Rules

The youngest division of TPR Baseball. Modified pitching, no leadoffs, 7-run cap per inning — designed to teach the game without overwhelming new ball players.

Nine Defensive Players
Reference

Nine (9) defensive players shall play in the field. No additional outfielders or rovers — standard MLB-style alignment.

B8.09
No Balk Rules
8U Only

Balk rules do not apply. Young pitchers learning the windup are not penalized for delivery irregularities.

C8.09
Dropped Third Strike
8U Only

A batter is automatically out on a dropped or missed third strike by the catcher. No advancement to first base.

Runner Advancement
Restriction

Runners shall not advance when the pitcher is on the pitching rubber with the ball in his possession and the catcher is in position to receive a pitch.

Comment: Runners may advance on a batted ball hit to the pitcher and when "Time" has not been called.

No Lead-offs · Stealing Allowed
Important

Runners shall not lead off, but may advance at their own risk (steal) once a pitched ball has passed home plate.

If a runner tries to advance prior to the pitched ball passing home plate:

Restriction

Runners shall not advance from 3rd base to home unless the runner is:

Runners may NOT score from 3rd on passed balls, wild pitches, or dropped/missed third strikes.

Pitching Limit
Forfeit Risk

Applies to One-Day, Two-Day, and Three-Day events. 1 out = ⅓ inning · 2 outs = ⅔ inning · 0 outs = 0. No penalty for going over on a double play.
